Thank you to Julie Clark for hosting the Women in Tourism evening on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at  The Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA. A special thank you to Sue McDowell, Executive Director of the Fallsview BIA for her inspirational presentation "Women, Work & Balance."
Here is a copy of the lovely poem that she shared. (author unknown)

The Girl in the Glass

 When you get what you want in the struggle for self

And the world makes you Queen for a day;

Just go to the mirror & look at yourself

And see what that girl has to say.

For it isn’t your father or mother or brother

Whose judgment upon you must pass;

The person whose verdict means most in your life,

Is the girl staring back from the glass.

She's the girl you must please, never mind all the rest,

For she's with you clear to the end;,

And you've passed your most difficult, dangerous test,

If the girl in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years,

And get pats on the back as you pass;

But your final reward will be heartaches & tears,

If you cheated the girl in the glass.

"Tourism agency launches new program for women" by Jennifer Pellegrini

Arlene White wants to make one thing abundantly clear: A new initiative by the Binational tourism Alliance to promote women in tourism isn't about bashing men.
"This is about finally positioning women front and centre and promoting all the things they've done in this industry," said White, who is executive director of the BTA.
