As many of our members know, the BTA has contemplated creating a Binational
Incentive Travel card for consumers over the past few years.
As a result
of the WHTI process over the past two years, we are pleased to advise we
will be working with Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Customs & Border
Protection to assist in the promotion and use of the NEXUS frequent traveller
card, rather than creating a new card.
The NEXUS program was 5 years
old in 2007, and is currently the most secure form of traveler
identification available. At a cost of $50 U.S. or $50 Cdn for adults over
18 for 5 years, and no charge for children and youth under 18, it is the most
economical and practical solution to cross-border travel for residents of and
visitors to Northern cross-border regions.
